  3. I just watched your show for the first time tonight and I just want to say to all you men and women what heros I think you all are. To risk your lives to say the whale lives is so incredibly brave and admirable. This gives us all a little window of just what kind of wonderful unselfish people you all are. You guys are what character is made of. God bless each and every one of you and stay safe and keep up the awesome awesome job you do everyday.

  4. Well...I love whales as much as the next person, but come on. I am a lover of all species of animals, and it bothers me to see innocent animals killed for no reason.
However, this endeavor is clearly the most naive effort of trying to help these animals that I have ever seen. The captain is inexperienced, makes stupid decisions, and has to be called to the helm when he should be there to begin with. The crew are merely a bunch of radical whale lovers who know nothing about the raging ocean or dangers that await them.
I'm thinking as I am watching this show for the last time, "Hey, let's save a whale, but kill our fellow humans all in the name of the holy whale." I wonder how many of these people have killed spiders, ants, wasps, mosquitoes, gnats, snakes, mice, birds, and many other rodents or animals for one reason or another? This method of protecting the whales is dangerous and ridiculous. Did I mention that the ship is old, mangled, and not even worthy to be in the places they are going. Their techniques for disrupting the whalers are merely riotous stone throwing, tear gasing type techniques that are quite hilarious and childish. I wish we could have people like this working this diligently in our inner cities and impoverished neighborhoods to save our kids and families from gangs, murderers, and abusers. I think they are just out there because they are all looking for some kind of crazy adventure. Well...they are certainly getting their adventure. They didn't have to get on a ship to get the crazy part because I think they were already there. "God" save the whales.

  9. watching whale wars on todays episode peter brown or paul brown appeared to be a negative individual who thinks everyone else is dumber than he is . I think that the captain of th steve erwin should really sit down with him and make him understand that everyone is there to help with the campaign and not to out rank him. I think that he is a pretentious ass that should either be removed or straightened out because he is making the whole crew look stupid and incompetent .
    Note to the captain

    Thanks,
    joe Duenas

Good luck and good work to all the crew members except peter brown

  10. Species die all the time do to the environment and human intervention. I do believe that we should try to protect all organisms and species to the best as possibility. And I do believe that whale do need to be protected and save as humanly possibility. And the Japaneses need to stop what they are doing. However, people like Richard head or (Dick Head) like Paul Watson need to find a better of protecting them. Very time I watch the show, whales wars, I praying this ship blows up or sinks.
What Richard head is doing is High Sea vigilant there need to be and international police force that patrol that part of the ocean to chase or even arrest any violators of the open oceans Laws. Not some stupid Richard head that does not have a clue what he is doing.

  12. OK... everyone has their own opinion on these things... but as far as I can see, no one else is out there trying to stop these malicious killers from endangering this species any more than they already are. Everyone on that ship is there because they believe in what they are doing. I agree... they do need to get rid of the guy who thinks he knows everything and doesn't agree to any type of change. Change is sometimes a good thing. The one thing we know, that's probably an absolute is that the Japanese are not doing "research" as they say. I feel someone has to make a statement whether it's the right or wrong way.

  13. Great passion~good to see someone
cares enough to dedicate their time
    and energy~realize ynu are doing
    everything you can physically and
    legally~however wish the world that
    outlawed whaling would help
    “police“ the illegal activities
as well and enforce the very
    activities they determined to
    be unacceptable.

  14. I fully concur with Whalewaranalyst. While the mission is quite noble, the show is a farce. I am unsure of the captain and I am definitely unsure of the crew. They are a bunch of idealogical hooligans who are looking for an identity. If they just put their time, money and energy into the political arena and getting the word out to the internation community you would choke the whaling industry. To even call this a 'war' is blasphemy. Soldiers die everyday in real wars. These 'kids' are inexperienced in life as well as being on the ocean. It's embarrassing. I do salute your noble cause but get a plan and execute it. Don't float around the ocean with toilet paper and stink bombs.

  15. Come on guys, you are comming off like a bunch of childish idiots. Saving the whales is a noble idea, but you guys need a better approach. There is NO WAY that I think you guys know what you are doing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I watch the show, I actually have sympathy for these whales, but Japan is a sovereign and friendly nation. Personally, I watch this show in hopes to see one of these whaling vessels put a harpoon through the captain.

  17. here is an idea about how to get around those nets: just like those water baloon sling shot (the professional ones that shoot 300+ feet ) use those or up grade it to shoot the bottles of acid you guys use to get them over the nets.

  18. Also if they try to take the prop fouler again you should get a grapple gun or some thing and in the middle of the takeing it just drive of with it grappled on to one of the little boats.
P.S. Great Job P.P.S ill tell you if i get any good ideas for attack.

  19. I shudder at the thought of you kids trusting your life with that idiotic crew. Is there something wrong (mentally) with the captain?
Thank goodness you got a different 1st mate. Now that first guy was a moron!

  20. I have been watching the news about the jellyfish that have been coming to the surface lately. It has been stated that Japan is the area that is having the biggest problem with these jellyfish and that they are growing larger and they are producing more offspring. It seems to me that Japan is killing the one creature that eats the same food as the jelyfish. Thereby leaving more food for the jellyfish. If the whales are not around or are killed then that will leave more plankton for the jellyfish to feed on and then they will comtinue to reproduce. It would seem that the whales do have a place in our environment. They are here to keep the population of the jellyfish down by eating all of the plankton available so that the jellyfish would have to go deaper to get the food that they need to survive.
But if the whalers continue to ignore this fact, and they do kill out all of the whales. What are people going to do about all of the jellyfish that will be plugging up the waterways? And what about their chldren who cannot go into the water to play because of the jellyfish which happen to be alot more dangerous than the whales.
The whalers need to sit back a minute and take a look at what they are doing to the environment. There is no telling how bad of an impact the loss of the whales will have on our world or our lives.
Also to mention, I do believe that we can sythetically produce everything that we take from the whales. We just have to WANT to do it, and to save our world for our children.

  21. watson was kicked out of greenpeace imagine that. I agree watson is a cowardly ecoterrorist that exploits the naive volenteers, some have been hurt. The phony bullet that watson planted so the Japanese seem to be taking new extreme action against the poor protesters, what a joke. watson is a joke and a bad one to say otherwise would be disingenious. My hope is the Dutch de-register the steve inrwin and ban the ship and crew from their ports, before one of those naive protesters are maimed or killed. :)

  22. As for me I wouldn't care if the Steve Erwin launched torpedoes at the Japs. The same way they launched torpedoes at the U.S. battleships.
Killing Whales as they needlessly do
is close to insane. Maybe whales are the most intelligent species on earth - not us.

Isn't it possible that the helicopter drop the not lethal chemicals directly on the whaling boats from above, as apposed to the small boats? Or is that an illegal action? Just a thought. I'm not sure of the laws regarding that...

  25. Could kites be used to carry the gift packages aboard the whalers ships.
How about using magnets in the prop fowlers to hold on the hulls while the ships stop and drag back to the prop when they take off again?
What about smoke bombs to blind the whalers on the water cannons and LRADS?

Why not use lasers to distract the whalers shotong water canons? You could also disrupt bridge operations as well.

  29. I have watched every episode thus far, and truly beleive in what they have been doing. What they do on a daily basis require more courge then what most people could never muster. This war the crew are fighting apear to be losing the war they sought to fight they need to step up their actions to prevent bucuse their old tactics are no longer working. If I had a way to join their team I would do it in a heartbeat and not only hope but actuly try and make a difference in our world. The captian of the ship should be somone that needs to be looked up to he has to make decisions that no ordinary people could find a solution to and live with it.

    Great job Keep it up!

GOD WILL NOT HELP US quit praying that he will we have to make a diference not an idiol that has not done a thing exept stand by and watch the monstrosity if in fact he/she truly does exist.

  34. Pissed Off Human Said:8/14/09, 10:19 PM

With all the people around the world that are DYING, you guys waste your time with some stupid whales...
Ok so now tell me, what about the Racoons that are being skinned alive to make COATS? and then die a gorey and really unfair DEATH?, and what about baby seals? Getting a huge NAIL smashed on the back of your soft newborn skull doesn't really seem tempting.
Why are WHALES much more important?
Whales are HUGE, they stand a chance, What, Seals just crawl around, completely unaware!
And MORE IMPORTANTLY, What about the poor useless and unhappy HUMANS in Africa and India and everywhere else?
    What about World Hunger?
MAYBE you could use all that money and "Motivation" to save the HUMAN RACE.

I know it's wrong, but WTF?
    What's more important???
    HMMM LET'S THINK...

P.S: Nice job on the crappy website.

  35. First off, I want to say that I am a "hunter gatherer" type of guy. I know, not the one that should be adding comments here, I'm sure. though I still believe in killing elk, deer, rabbits, coyotes, etc. I have to say that the episode that I saw tonight certainly changed my opinion on what the Sea Shepherds goal is. I initially just thought of the "cause" as an entertainment factor. I now fell the the same drive as the crew as far as the need to stop whaling. Don't get me wrong, I strongly agree with whalewaranalysts opinion regarding the captain and crew, HOWEVER, I also believe that the whale numbers continue to dwindle in front of our eyes. This does indeed need to come to an end. Though I may not entirely agree with the tactics, I believe the cfrew is heading in the right direction. My only question is, WHY THE HELL COULDN'T THE CHOPPER FLY IN FRONT OF THE HARPOONER?! ----PUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

    sincerely,

the guy that says fuck that pilot....what a Nancy!

    ReplyDelete
  36. First, I've never seen a bigger bunch of bumbling idiots. Paul Watson has absolutely no ship-handling, leadership, or reasoning skills. And the crew members are mindless sheeple. Whales have no rights. Only humans do. The Japanese should put a torpedo up the Sea Shepherds ass!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sink The Sea Shepherd8/15/09, 2:16 PM

One whale, 2 whales, 3 whales, 4. Hope the Japanese fleet kills more!!! Maybe you worthless morons on the Sea Shepherd should look at things this way...Every dead whale means:
1.) the Japanese can pursue their research
    2.) hungry humans can eat
3.) the seagulls way out at sea can finally get a square meal
4.) and less krill, plankton, and small fish will be eaten and killed by the ruthless whales

    "KILL WHALES-SAVE KRILL"

    ReplyDelete
  38. If the japanese whailing ships are now protecting themselves with nets why not get some sort of air cannon that could launch the acid bottles from a safe distance and that could get the bottles over the net(since the crew members arent doing a good job). if this cannon like i said cannot be abtained, why not equip the helicopter with a net filled with these acid bottles to do an aerial attack sonce the nets only cover the sides i mena come on people use your heads
WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY FOR IT :)

  39. wednesday/pissed off8/15/09, 5:52 PM

These japanese know what they are doing is wronge and the things that they are doing to the sea sheaperd is also wronge i think the sea sheaperd should get a cannon like gun to though there asid ferther on to there ships.. I can tell that the japanes pepole are going to do anything and everythng that they can to keep whaleing so we need to do anything and everthing that we can do to STOP them, maybe we need more ships on the HUNT also they havr more then one we should have more then one.. Just keep doing anything you can to stop them....

  40. I just started watching your show this year, and was disturbed when the Japanese loaded three whales in front of you and killed a four as you could only watch. If they do this again, you should use their horrendous activiity to your advantage. Collect and process their whale waste to puree, bottle, bake on the sun, and use a ammunition for when you run low on butyric acid. I'm sure that would cause quite a stench!!! Good luck. Keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i think that its horrible that they would kill whales in front of you guys. its such a sad sight to see. and i agree with you that they should be stopped!!!! i will keep whatching your show and i hope you have the chance to stop them!!!

  42. THIS SHOW MAKES ME SO ANGRY. YOU GUYS ARENT EVEN TAKING CHARGE OF THE SITUATION! YOU MAKE AMERICANS LOOK STUPID THOSE JAPANESE PEOPLE AREN'T GOING TO STOP WITHOUT BRUTAL FORCE! IF I WERE YOU I'D THROW GRENADES ON THEIR SHIPS AND KILL EVERY SINGLE ON OF THOSE SHORT THINGS. YOU BASICALLY JUST SIT AND WATCH THESE WHALES DIE! YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING! USE DIFFERENT TACTICS. THEY DESERVE TO DIE!

    ReplyDelete
  43. yea.... so i tried to watch this show a few times now...and really you guys are not doin jack shit out there but floating around crying and filming whale slaughters for everyone to watch...whale wars??? we get to watch whales get harpooned left, right and center while you guys fail to throw stink bombs at the jap ships...come on really...its actually quite hilarious how bad your failing at this cause...back to the drawing board on that one...who pays for this anyway?? they must be pissed at their lack of results...dont get me wrong i support the cause but really you got to figure out a real way physically or legally stop them japs...we are americans and canadiens...no one messes with us. Whooop

    ReplyDelete
  44. Damn Japs are at it again. Always doing something F__ked up! We should have dropped more bombs on them when we had the chance. I think what there doing in the name of research is a travesty. My problem with the Captain and crew of the Steve Erwin is there efforts are a joke. They are totally ineffective and there is not much thinking put in to a real effective plan. The Japs are laughing at this point at what idiots they are. What a waste of money and fuel it is, for them to run around and watch the whales get killed. This show will not last long if they cant do better than this. Veiwers will get frustrated and stop watching!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. everyting you do is meaningles it wil change nothing...unless you do something effective. destroy the whales so they cant make profit?! now they die in vain and the killers have to work harder to kill more to make up for loss u r making it worse! the only way u wil make a differance is by sinking the harpoon ships. i dont know if u can legaly do that but if u run an unmanned craft with a solid metal spike below water level into them and constantly sink them there wont b ships to kill whales then they might think it over. what u resist presits

  46. You guys and girls are doing great. I'm only 10 but my family and I are big conservationists and love the outdoors. I think what they are doing is wrong and think the japanese should stop the killing. I hope to join you when I'm old enough

  49. I have to admit, Animal Planet’s new comedy serious Whale Wars is very entertaining. In this era of zero originality where TV network simply rehash old ideas, I have to give praise to the Animal Planet. The channel has truly outdone itself with this very creative remake of Gilligan’s Island. They have even gone so far as to be sure the Skipper and the first mate resemble the Skipper and Gilligan on the original show. I do wish they would have picked up on the way the Skipper used to hit Gilligan with his hat though…that would really make the show the best!!!! I don’t think I have seen such a bunch of bumbling buffoons on one ship in my life. But what can you expect from people who have nothing else better to do with their lives. Who actually wastes money paying for this hippie barge to sail the seven seas??? The incompetence of the Sea Shepard’s crew is what really makes the show. Did anyone see the episode where they tried to bind up the Japanese fishing boats propellers and the boat’s props just cut the rope. Now that’s comedy. Thank goodness the only competent character in this play of whacky wonders is the helicopter pilot or the constant failures of the Sea Shepard’s crew could not be genuinely enjoyed from the vantage point offered by the chopper. Keep making the show…I love to laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I hope this is read by members of the Sea Shepard I have an idea, Why don't you form a "blunderbus" of sorts to deliver your nasty smelling content to the deck of those ships. This would enable a farther distance and wider dispursement in order to still make the supplies make a difference. maybe even put some nasty liquid in a bunch of "Super soakers" or a power washer with a compressed air source. I am not onboard so I am sure what would work, but sometimes when you stare at a painting close up you can't see the real perspective until you back of and regroup. If I had any kind of money you would have it right now all I can offer it my creative ideas.hope they are of some use. Stay strong and know your doing the right thing from chewyplus2@gmail.com

  51. hey pissed off human people in Africa need to go where the food is and stop bringing babies into the world they can't care for or sell to the slave trade. Same with the population in India that keeps growing expadencially. Whales and other animals should not be exploited by cowards that hide behind the 'guise of research. They hurt no one and are a fading naturaly beautiful naive creature. What if we find they could teach us to cure a human disease after they are all gone. I also hate it when people think it's ok to ride in a truck with there Dog in the open truck bed.

  58. I must admit I never truly cared about what was happening to the whales/whalers untill watching this show perticulary the part where the Japs shot the whale at that point if felt as if my stomach had droped to hear about the animals being killed and watching it for yourself are two different things you cannot truly understand it until you have seen it if I said "I would love to have the chance to help the whale." i would be lieing being that i would not have the motivation to do so and there are other comments stating quit worrying about the whale but the starving kids in africa i have the same reaction i know it is selfish but what can you do if you live in america and never had an opertuinity to go to such a poverty stricken area and most people who say they care truly dont or they would have done somthing then the other group the people who donate dont care as much either because they are not persnaly taking charge just giving money to say that they give when in reality they dont give jack about what happens to them anyone saying they care about a cause could care but not enough to do somthing or they say they care and dont it is easy to make up somone your not online. the main point of this is that we people as a whole dont care what happens to others and on the other hand the ones that care and are actuly making a difference bravo Steve Erwin for truly making a difference while others only dream or pretend to do

(On an unrelated topic)I have read everyones comments to get their veiws their were a few that caught my attention particularly the one about the guy eating whale meat and proud of it or loving to wacth the die the context of most of them seem to be from the same person identified by the integeredy of the paragraphs etc. odviusly someone that is starved for attention and the only way he/she knows how to fill it is by bloging on here and acting like the know the world.

  61. I agree totally with whalewaranalyst said below. The crew are also terorists and should be stopped.

    Quote from wici

"Japan has argued that the establishment of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary was in contravention of the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling (ICRW) on which the IWC is based and is therefore illegal. While there is no settlement procedure in the IWC for this type of dispute, Japan has asked the IWC to submit its case to a relevant legal body for analysis, which the IWC has refused to do.

As sanctuaries only apply to commercial whaling, Japan has continued to hunt whales inside the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary because its whaling is done in accordance with a provision in the IWC charter permitting whaling for the purposes of scientific research (Japan also lodged a formal objection to the sanctuary with regard to minke whales, meaning that, in accordance with IWC rules, the terms of the sanctuary do not apply to Japan with respect to minkes)."

  63. The Captain is being negligent by endangering his crew, NO ship captain would ever do that. Let the governments handle it and save the crew and whales. I've sailed the Atlantic and Pacific and the crew and ship is the captain's responsibility. He should be held liable for any incident at sea. Seems that what he is doing is sort of a terroristic threat on other sea going ships! DON'T tarnish the name of Steve Irwin. Ray in Texas.

  64. they should look at paint ball cannons to shoot 2000 round of acid paint balls over the nets to get to the whales being cut up and the crew are a bunch of pussy

  66. While the cause is good, the methods are a bit ridiculous. I for one have witnessed Greenpeace in action, circa 1980/1990s. The so called Captain of this vessel is going to get those band of idealistic but naive crusaders killed out there, and seemingly doesn't care!

I quit watching the show early on but not because I disagree with the underlying mission statement, but from the very first episode, I couldn't bear to watch the totally inept seamanship and risk to human life because of it. It is one thing to operate at sea, which carries inherent risk, but to do so with zero experience and care for those who are put in harms way in such a careless manner for often little or no return - it just flies in the face of any sense of professional risk analysis by competent people.

Insult to injury from the further lack of basic leadership skill by any of the "responsible" parties on that vessel. I caught the show by accident last night (icebergs and they lost RHIB again). Again, I'm struck that the only thing this show highlights is the massively stupid decisions based on zero seafaring or maritime common sense, and Animal Planet makes it even more ludicrous with editing, I guess to try to eek out some sort of intense drama. All they do is further highlight the stupidity, lack of any real leadership, and just a serious hazard to life and vessel. Losing the RHIB (again) which should of never been launched in the first place, then nearly getting locked in the ice field. Where's the Captain as his stupid decisions put people's lives at risk? In his warm cabin, with his head buried in the sand! It is not because he trusts his bridge team because they are vastly experienced ship handlers. Uh... no, he's completely out of his depth and should stay in the kitchen on land making rancid butter bombs, and leave the seafaring to those who know how to do it, aggravated further with the additional perils of the Southern Ocean. Learning on the fly is not the way to go here guys.

Anyway, Animal Planet, you really missed the mark and keep missing it with this misguided show. When your ridiculous "Captain" stands around with his mouth agape during an emergency of human life due to his own stupid orders, frozen with indecision about what to do next, there will be hell to pay. I had to turn off the tv when he put those guys in the hold to wait for an iceberg to puncture the hull. No communication with the bridge, no damage control equipment to be seen; this ship and "crew" are vastly unprepared for even basic emergencies and apparently have no equipment to do anything even if they knew what to do... not to mention this particular vessel has no business operating in the Southern Ocean, and the Captain even admitted that! What a negligent piece of shit!

Somebody will be held legally negligent, I hope, and I just don't see how the Australian Government can let these people out of the harbor after watching even 1 show.

  67. Gosh, they made it out of the ice field by sheer luck and a change in wind direction.

The 1st Mate, Brown, is a real bone head. The fact he's continually supported by the Captain, in such a quasi-military manner, smacks in the face of Brown's comment that he's anti-military - yet he demands recognition and respect in such a military manner. The only thing that's missing is for him to be relieved of duty and sent home, which would happen in the military following a few of the insane things he's done and said. You ought to let that ex-Navy lady have more of a say instead of side-lining her effort to organize things properly. Maybe not exactly properly but at least she's making some sense and trying to prepare the crew to carry out their "job" more effectively and moreover, SAFELY! I can't bear to watch, but accidently caught a re-run again last night, and was so relieved they made it out of the ice but the continuing dysfunction is heart breaking.

  70. From Dianne.
I have read many of the comments listed. Many of them look like they came from elementry school age children. I have watched the shows for the last season and I wish my health was good enough that I could volunteer to go on one of the missions. The idea of saving the whales is wonderful, but I get so frustrated when the crew are not allowed to do more than throw things at the whaling ships. I was impressed when the Steve Irwin got between the mother ship and the whaling ship, but I was so angry that they still were able to load the dead whale.

Seeing the whales be tortured and killed broke my heart and I couldn't watch it anymore. I support what the Captain and Crew are doing, but, as 1 of the comments said, 1 ship isn't going to make a huge impact on the whalers.

God Bless you for what you are doing.

FYI to whalewaranalyst-there are people in many inner cities fighting for the kids and families.

Keep up the Good work SEA SHEPHERDS AND THE CREW OF MR PAUL WATSON. from my heart i would like to THANK YOU for the great job you doing to save our whales and GOD will be with all of you ALWAYS and keep you safe. I would like to make a comment to Mr Paul Watson, there is any way that the Pilot on the helicopter can release that uric Acid direct on the Japanese Ship ? I believe that will be good if the pilot can do that, Because he will have a better view from the sky then from the ship. I will suggest that the pilot try that move on the Japanese fleet and focus on the harpoon and the back of the ship were the whales are being pulled inside the ship..

THIS NEXT COMMENT IF FOR THOSE PEOPLE THAT HAS NO HEART FOR INNOCENT ANIMALS. WHY ARE YOU ON THIS SITE ????? ... THE WAY YOU TALK AND FEEL ABOUT INNOCENT WHALES YOU SHOULD BE SHAMED ABOUT YOUR SELF, YOU LOW LIFE HUMAN BEINGS.. HOW WILL YOU FEEL AND ACT IF YOU FEEL THAT SHARP HARPOON GETTING DEEP INTO YOU BODY ????? I WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO AIM THAT SHARP HARPOON TO YOU HEARTS AND PULL THE TRIGGER THEN YOU WILL SEE HOW U FEEL AND ACT TOWARDS WHALES.

    Again,
I would like to THANK the Sea Shepherd and the crew on board and God be with you always ... GREAT JOB GUYS .. LOVE YOU ALL

  78. ashamed of my canadian goverment

paul as a canadian started at 11 years of age,i love every animal fair is fair,i believe the indians taking one a year is fair as is there custom before we came here they also use eveery bit of it.as a mother i teach my kids where food comes from not the store field waters all of it.while paul was fighting at 11 i at the same age thought i would be in jail for murder, as cats were missing in our area my cat would never get caught she hated everryone but me slept with me only ate if i was there, until i walked down the lane behind the church to find my baby hung and dipped in paint,at 49 it still wakes me, i found the twins that were doing it and what i did was worse then what paul is doing.i never seen a whale close till last year took my breath away.then i seen them harpon 3 in one show.i cried so hard till no tears were left just anger.what a loop hole research.well its time we as humans speak up call your goverment donate so they have money to get a ship as good as theres.i am sorry to say this but you cannot trust the japs look what there doing seems like pearl harbour all over again.if i could get to the sea sheaperd ship i would be on every tour they do.the crew is good they were right not to use the anchor if it was thrown back they would die in the cold water.why are no goverments helping makes them look like cowards.take that dutch flag down and become a pirate ship high seas fair game. then watch them run.to every member on that ship god bless you.and make he sail with you and keep you all safe what heros to risk your life for something most people could carealess about.i will now go sign up to join this fight, stay safe all great to see you all writing with support i am sure when there down and read these post it helps.god bless all peace to all

from ashamed of my canadian goverment...

Please understand those who do not care for all gods animals are souless so both you and i know where there going..
the idea of using the acid from the air awsome, those who could careless about the whales also carealess about there own life, if they did they would look around the world or the citys they live in and she all the humans killed daily, could be one of there loved ones one day.f--k maybe they will be attacked by a hungry animal.when we take all the land and live with the animals as one.every animal knows the weak to kill fastest.guest that would be the whale haters as they are the morons not the crew or paul..they all must feel homeless people should be killed as well,

SO TO YOU HATERS IN MY NANAS WORDS I SAY

DO NOT FLY IN GODS FACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SEE HIS POWERS..HARPONS DONÈT HURT WOUNDER HOW JESUS FELT WITH NAILS HAMMERED IN HIS BODY YOU MIGHT BE NEXT IT DOES NOT SAY HOW YOUR LIFE WILL END BUT REMEMBER IT WILL.AND ONLY GOD WILL JUDGE YOU.

GOD BLESS ALL THE PEOPLE WHO CARE AS THOSE I HAVE NO FEAR OF THOSE THAT DO NOT CARE ARE THE ONES WE AS HUMANS SHOULD FEAR...

  81. I can not believe what I just finished watching...I still can't breathe. This is my first time watching your documentary and I am just blown away. You are all amazing for what you are doing to risk everything to help to stop the slaughter of the whales. To watch a group of whales run down like animals then harponed, and shot to death somehow is not for research. It is very clear now thanks to your program and the people of Sea Wars to capture the video that will open the eyes of everyone internationally, to stop these butchers. They may be a fish to you out there but not to me. This is murder in all senses of the word and it is life changing to see it live. What a horrible death for all three of the whales. I do hope that this group of yours will find ways to stop the nets etc..to stop this cruelity. There must be more that you can do. We have to. I will find a way to get involved in this great cause and I applaud you for helping to save the whales.

  99. This post is not to take away from the plite of the whales. It is to inform others that do actually care and are willing to make a difference.

Denmark is involved in a shameful practice. The sea is stained in red and currently it's not because of the climate effects of nature.
It's because of the cruelty that the human beings (civilized human) kill hundreds of the famous and intelligent Calderon dolphins. This happens every year in Feroe Island in Denmark. In this slaughter the main participants are young teens.
    WHY?
A celebration, to show that they are adults and mature!
In this big celebration, nothing is missing for the fun. Everyone is participating in one way or the other, killing or looking at the cruelty “supporting like a spectator”
Is it necessary to mention that the dolphin calderon, like all the other species of dolphins, it’s near extinction and they get near men to play and interact. In a way of PURE friendship.
They don’t die instantly; they are cut 1, 2 or 3 times with thick hooks. And at that time the dolphins produce a grim cry like that of a new born child.
But he suffers and there’s no compassion while this magnificent creature slowly dies in its own blood.
    Its enough!
We will send this mail until this email arrives in any association defending the animals, we won’t only read. That would make us accomplices, viewers.
Take care of the world, it is your home!

  101. I have now watched close to a dozen episodes of this mockery I loosely call a reality show. I just cant stop watching the humorous acts that these crazy liberals call conservation. I mostly watch because I know very little about the situation at hand. I must say that after watching that I would probly classify the men and women on the Sea Shepard just one level below Pirates. At least Pirates have a somewhat attainable goal. Whoever the foolhearted millionaire is that pumps the money in to keep this fleet of boats and aircraft afloat, he should be sat down and possibly talked to about redirecting some funds into something a bit more worthwhile for the world.

  108. i think the whole fleet should start decusing about new tactics for the next campaign so when the time comes they will be prepaired..like for example a bag full of butter acid mounted to the helicopter so the helicopter can get above the ship and drop all that raw butter acid right on the dead whales so the meat will be ruined..since the japanese now has netting on the sides of the boat to prevent that from throwing it on there decks.it can be more accurite dropped from above their heads by the helicopter

  109. I think some of the people in this blog who say the people from SSCS make stupid decisions or whatever had made the same mistakes in these situations. I'm glad there are people out there to save the whales. this is better than no one would stop the japanese. they have cut their quota in half the last 3 years, no one should say it doesn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Look, I do not support the killing of whales, but the way the sea shepherds are handling the situation is ridiculous. The japs are overed in whale guts and blood- do they really think that throwing nasty butter on them will scare them into stopping?! The japs should go into some other business, and the sea shepherd hippies should cool it.

The Sea Shepherds are complete idiots. If they weren't on tv, they could do whatever they wanted (cannons, guns, wepons, etc.) and never get caught! But they just HAD to go put themselves on tv, and now cannot do anything worthwhile to stop the damn japs and their brutal slaughterings. Whales are free creatures, and should be left as such. they are NOT cows! we do not eat them in cheeseburgers every day! They are wild creatures, and neither side of this story is right. The japs should stop killing the whales, and the sea shepherds should just go back to land and eat their hearts out.

I'd like to give you some ideas that may be more effective to the "Japs". My grandfather fought them basterds in WWII,on the USS BlackHawk and we won. I have no doubt we can do it again! Have you heard of "Sticky Smoke Bombs"? When they land on the deck it breaks and super glues its self to where it lands, and slowly releases smoke. I don't know if they have it or not but that would be nice with the stink bombs. Because they will be unable to remove it from the deck. = more damage!

  129. If we can't put a stop to the killing of whales, we as a species, ultimately will fail. This is murder. I continue to be dumbfounded by the actions of the Japanese. The Sea Shepherds vs the Japanese whaling fleet is truly a story of 'David and Goliath'. We, as humans, need to do what we can to protect all life on this planet. Thank you Sea Shepherds for all that you do. Know that you have an army of support behind you.

  130. why dont they just drop that acid stuff in those bottles from their helicopter onto the Japanese? drop one of those thing in the water that tangle up the propellers in a boat, but do it to the factory ship? thats how you can stop them. they wont be able to afford to keep their boats if u drop acid from a helicopter on them all the time and u can make their ship not move.

    ReplyDelete
  131. i think the japanese whaling boat should be at the bottom of the ocean for what they are doing to those whales. Go Bob Barker and Ady Gil!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Saw some of the suggested tactics left here where used this season.
    Lasers on the Andy Gil.
Can not wait to see what else was used.
PS Word Verification not working so well still.

Maybe a line runner off the side of the boats next season to extend the reach of the prop line.

If the Steve Irwin left port early enough next season it could idle at sea before taking off to chase the fleet or take off and return a couple of times to throw them off.
How many times can they fly over and track? Who knows but it can not be cheep to do.

  135. Fantastic! I was gonna write a comment regarding using a large "sling-shot" or one of those "on the shoulder rocket guns" to get the bottles you've been throwing by hand to better hit your targets, whether from the Steve Irwin or the small boats I was thinking would be much more efficient, however, I just saw a show using both of those. I still think a "sling-shot" on some sort of a pivot stand would greatly help out the small boats as well...

  139. What you are doing certainly has a very good intention but if I ran my business the way you run the Sea Shepard I would be out of business. It almost like Abbot and Costello is manning the ship. You can't even lower the smaller boat without making serious errors. Even the Bob Barker was stopped because someone turned off the fuel. I hope the show is only showing the problems and errors you make and that you can actually run the ship better than what is shown/

  141. I wish I could join you guys on the Steve Irwin so much! Without whales, eventually all of the animals on Earth will become extinct because of the lack of an important animal of the food chain. It's cruel what the Japanese are doing. They must be heartless to kill majestic creatures like whales. They're the reason for future whale extinction!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I have been a life long conservationist and while I detest the Japs for killing whales it is a patern of dishonor that stretches back to the execution of American POW's in WW 2. This is a people without honor that charges the Sea Sheppards repeatedly then warns them against approuching the Jap vessel. The way to stop this slaughter is to commission a international armed enforcement of the ban on wailing. Sink the bastards when they intrude on protected waters and international law violation and they will stop coming. As much as it angers me for these whales to be killed in the name of science I also must comment that the captain of the Steve Irwin is a moron that puts his crew and vessel in situations of harm for his own promosion. Change your tactics idiot you do not ram a vessel and endanger your crew and ship. A captains first and formost responcibility is to his ship and crew, if you don't get that you should not be behind the helm. The captain of the Steve Irwin is also too idecisive to provide protection for the whales and safety to the crew he is a danger at sea that will result in the loss of ship or crew or both eventually as well as the possibility of other ships and crews being lost as a direct result of his actions. The damage to the Adi Gal was a mistake made by that captain and his disrespect for his small craft which endangered his crew in which his certification should be stripped. The boarding of vessel is a violation of international law and if they were stupid enough to do it they should be glad that a piracy charge was not added or that this man was considered a terrorist. I commend your efforts but there are rules you may not violate reguardless of your opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  143. crazytaz you are a fucking idiot we fought the nips in WW2 not Vietnam. Ok folks I have some issues. First the Steve Erwin needs to be beached for the safety of the crew the captain needs to be prosecuted for reckless endangerment and for just being an idiot in general. I love to hear all you bunny huggers on here talk shit. I am a hunter and a cosevationist. While I do think the nips need to pay for thier crimes and the killing of whales, you bunnie huggers would not know the first thing about conservation if it bit you in the ass. Lets examine this for a moment P.E.T.A exucuted 97% of the animals taken in by them last year and many members have been charged with the illegal dumping of the euthanized carcasses. Another group were arrested at P.E.T.A. headquarters for dog napping a mans hunting dog and taking it to headquarters. The H.S.U.S reguardless of all the cute pictures of animals they claim to rescue do not own support or operate one single animal sheltyer in the U.S. Animals are not skinned alive or running around with out skin reguardless of what these fraudulent organizations propiganda says. Cultures that harvest seals have been living this way from before your great great great great grandfather had the slightest inclination or itch in his pants that created what you call your ancestors. Harvest and conservation is a fact of life as well as is the fact that tofu taste like shit. Get a life get a job and leave people to live as they choose not as you would have them live. Death to the nip whalers and the pirates on the southern oceans. You are all breaking international law and you deserve to meet the same fate as the Titanic. Animal Planet should be ashamed to give the sea shepperds any kind of publicity or recognition.

  144. I think there are a lot of stuff i agree with, and a lot i don't.
    1) THEY ARE DOING AN AWSOME JOB!! :)
    2) Their tactics could be a little more aggressive....but u have to consider that these are people who DONT WANT TO HARM ANYONE! including the jap.
    3) You ALL should consider the fact that they have been able to cut the jap whaling industry by HALF...the jap kill almost 1 thousand whales a year in Antarctica, 1 whale can be as much as 1 million dollars...and so for them to cut whaling in half is HUGE!! which means, money lost for jap, and thats what their trying to do. because as soon the jap lose money, their industry goes DOWN!!! :)
    4) I LOVE THE SHOW WHALE WARS, I LOVE THE SEA SHEPHERDS THAT ARE DOWN THEIR, AND I HOPE TO BE ONE, ONE DAY!! :)
    5) Although the sooner you shut them down, the better :)

  164. Has anyone ever figured out how many whales of each species exist in the ocean and whether the killing of a 1000 Minke whales, by Norwiegan or Japanese whalers, endangers the population? I think it would be important to determine the current population and the breeding rate per year of these hunted whales to determine if a 1000 whale quota per annum is OK. We do that with other land base animals. The difficulty is in the deep oceans, which no one has truly fully explored, there is no count of whales or for that matter, any other marine animals population and breeding rate. Before we condemn the Japanese or any other whaling nation, we need to get the hard facts. The oceanic population is a hard fact to gather. We know more about how many stars exist in our galaxy than things that exist right here on our own planet. Food for thought.

    ReplyDelete
  165. This is a follow up on my whale population comment. If man had invested as much $ into expploring our oceans as we have space, we would have had the technology to stop the BP leak a long long time ago. We would have deep dive manned vehicles that could operate with robotic arms and possibly seal that leak long ago or at leak get a better human-eye on-site view of the extent of the problem. And again we know how many deer, caribou, elk, lions, tigers, etc exist on land and we know how to control these populations when they get out-of-control by controlled kills. We need to be just as savvy about our oceanic denizens. More food for thought.

And he is such a dick because he doesn't know shit and just needs to stop talking. love the show keep doing an awesome job.

  167. I love watching your show, I was wondering maybe you should throw stuff out of the Helicopter! Then all you really need to do is drop it! Then you wouldn't be hit by the cannons, and the Japanese crew wouldn't be able to throw stuff high enough back at the Helicopter! Just an idea.

Please keep failing and continue to be the dumbest human beings on earth so the show can go on. I hope the people that fund this operation do not watch the show because if they do I am sure they will stop giving them money. This is a perfect example of why liberal tree huggers should not be allowed to enter the military......god these people are fu**ing retards.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Considering the dwindeling population of whales and the fact that some of them are on the "endangered list" I think hunting them is morally wrong. Why are the japs allowed to hunt 50 humpbacks a year when there are so few left in the first place? If it's international waters, then every nation should have to agree to go out and slaughter them all- if not, then they shouldn't hunt them at all. And as for the B.S.claim of "research", Americans conduct research on animals all the time without killing them- it's called "catch and release"...even my 6year old knows how to catch and release a fish, why can't the japs figure it out?

    ReplyDelete
  171. Andrew Keiter 147/25/10, 6:40 PM

Not only is whaling wrong it is just unhuman. The Japanese really need to realize that by killing whales there just killing themselves. I highly doubt that they are "collecting research" and "weighing stomach contents" I think we all no that they aren't doing that. But i just started watching whale wars and i have to say that it is the best show no campaign i have ever seen. I one day want to join the fight against whaling with the Sea Sheperds. Thanks guys for your bravery and your commiting to fight against whaling.

Has any research been done to see if a chemical compound can be made which if injected into a whale would be harmless, but make their meat inedible? If so, would it be more productive to start injecting whales rather than trying to stop the faster and more modern ships you are up against? Whaler's would not be able to tell which whale had been injected and which had not. I believe if they killed a few "injected" whales they would give up whaling. Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Killing whales for research! Totally ludicrous! The Japanese kill about 1000 whales a year under the guise of "research". It's for commercial purposes! They spend millions on whaling expeditions, and reap millions of dollars by selling the meat. Paul Watson and crew are the only ones actively trying to prevent this so-called "research". The rest of the world has turned a blind eye to it. And when our whales are almost gone, perhaps the world will wake up...but will it then be too late? Our ocean has a very important balanced ecological system which includes whales. Get it out of balance and we all suffer!

  184. I have seen your show where one of the 2 anti-whaling ships almost hit the JAP whaleing ship. The paint-bottle launching weapon is awesome. If your helicopter can carry some spare weight, try to equip it with a claw to carry a large canister filled with red paint or your acid. Also, try to fit your bird with paint-bottle rockets. As a Army Ranger we come up with some real crazy stuff. Try these ideas if the helo can carry either? Godd Luck, I support you. Gell if the NAVY wasn't too busy with the current war, we'ed vote to have a USS-Colister (sub) sink all whaling ships

  196. I give Peter Brown credit for volunteering, however, sometimes people don't pick a volunteer position that would make them effective. In the case of Peter Brown volunteering for the Sea Shepard, maybe he should have actually volunteered at some Zoo, somewhere, cleaning up after the Squirrels. He is not too bright of a guy.

  197. I have seen nothing but the Sea Shepard violate International Law thusfar. Rather sad that they are willing to possibly kill another human to save a dead whale. They are careless and should be punished internationally for their actions. Boarding anothers vessel is piracy. Acid???? Shameful. They should ALL be in prison for their acts. I surely would not be so nice if they threw acid at my ship!!
